Northwest Arkansas Writers Free Workshop
We will be holding a free workshop on Saturday, March 12, 2011 from
8:30am until 4:00pm at the Ozarks Electric building at 3641 W. Wedington Drive
in Fayetteville. Lunch will be available for $7.00.
Scheduled speakers are:
Linda Apple - Writing for Chicken Soup
Linda has been published with Chicken Soup 12 times and is a well-known inspirational speaker and author.
Patty Stith - Making Your Movie Trailer
Patty recently made a trailer for her book and will share what she learned.
Jeanie Horn - Writing For Paying Markets
Jeanie is multi-published in magazines and newspapers and is a professional editor.
Velda Brotherton - A Sense of Place
Velda is an award winning writer, published in both fiction and nonfiction, and teaches workshops on the craft of writing.
Dusty Richards - Writing 101
Dusty is an award winning writer with over 100 published books and tons of workshops to his credit.

Getting ready for the Flash Fiction contest.

Duke Pennell won first place in the Flash Fiction contest
with "Evicted." Jeannie Horn and Ned Downie took second and third place.

Success at OWFI!
|
Many of our members attended OWFI and some of them
performed very well in the contests.
|
|
Ruth Rakestraw won First Place in Historical Novel for her
work titled "The War for Florida."
She also won Third Place in Western Novel for "Aubrey Roberts' Fight."
|
|
Ann Holbrook won Third Place in Adult Short Story for her
work titled "Life Everlasting."
|
|
Jan Morrill won Fourth Honorable Mention in Prose Humor
for her work titled "Glory, Lost and Found."
|
Whether they entered any contests or not,
as you can see by the pictures,
a good time was had by all!
We held a Free Conference on Saturday, March 14th, 2009.
Everyone who attended gave the event high marks. Here are copies of
