Sarah Paige Berling

I have been writing short stories and novellas since the age of 13. The more I wrote, the longer and more intricate my stories became. Now I am working on two novels, one on my own and one with a friend. The one I am writing on my own is a classic fantasy tale called Time's Eye. The horror/supernatural novel I am working on with a friend is called Forgive Me If I sleep.

I just recently got published for the very first time, a short story for the Letters From the Dead anthology, by Library of the Living Dead Press. As you might guess, it is zombie apocalypse (aka zombocalypse) anthology. My story in it is titled "The Lucky Ones".

I am a college student studying geology, but if I could, if I had the resources necessary, I would write full time. Don't get me wrong, geology is great and very interesting, but I am slightly less passionate about it than I am about writing. Right now, my plan is to do something similar to Michael Crichton, and be a geologist by day and a writer by night.

The branch of geology I am interested in is Planetary Geology - that is, the geology of the other rocky planets and moons in our solar system. I am especially interested in Venus and the Galilean moons (the four primary moons in Jupiter's orbit). I am firmly of the belief that if humanity is going to thrive as a species, we need to get off this planet.

I use a lot of my science background in my writing, as well as my religious background. I find that mixing science with religion, especially in a fiction story, can make some really interesting things happen.

I joined the NWA Writers Group in April of 2010 and plan on remaining there until I move for grad school.
